Peg Doll Boxes at Craftwerk 30 October , 2006

peg doll boxes

Craftwerk has been and gone! It was fun, but I didn't make enough to buy a frock for the Sunday Star Times short story awards.

I found some domino boxes at the $2 shop, and they fit my peg dolls perfectly. I painted their pictures on them, and slid the peg dolls inside. It seemed a little coffin-like, yet snug.

I also bought some cute pants from Tinyhappy and swapped a few treats for a lovely bag from Toast clothing

Peg doll 'zine and flyer October 30, 2006

peg doll 'zine

I made a zine to go with the peg dolls and also a concertina-folded flyer to tuck into the peg doll bags. It was fun trying to think of what went on inside the dolls' wooden heads. Email me if you would like a copy of the 'zine -- $2 + postage.

Poppyshock business cards 30 Octover, 2006

poppyshock card

I whipped up a quick business card: a twisted armistice day poppy. I love stickers and stamps; it's the 10-year-old in me. If I was a thorough stylist, I would have painted my nails red for this photo!

A family affair: art installation 30 Octover, 2006

bureau

My mother, sister and I engaged in a collaborative art installation. Family portraits (oil paintings) hung above a bureau, and a DVD played a super-8 loop of my mother's cousin caught in a bramble. I made the drawer liners, cobbled out of 1950s woman's weekly issues. "You are happier than you think," the "friend who understands" instructs the thwarted housewives.
